CDSTF Host Community Digital Storytelling Workshop at Islamic University
A workshop on 'Community Digital Storytelling' was held at Islamic University in collaboration with the Department of Journalism, Media and Communication, Daffodil International University. The Photographic Society of Islamic University and the Community Digital Storytelling Festival jointly organized it on Monday (September 11, 2023) at 10 am in room 134 of the university's Mir Musharraf Hossain Academic Building.
Dr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin, Associate Professor, Chairperson of Al Fiqh and Legal Studies Department presided the workshop where Dr. Md. Abdul Kabil Khan, Associate Professor, at the department of Journalism, Media and Communication from Daffodil International University was the facilitator.
Proctor of Islamic University and Shahadat Hossain Azad, Professor, English Department, Shahjahan Mandal, Professor, Law Department, Adviser of Photographic Society and Amjad Hossain, Associate Professor of Al Fiqh and Legal Studies Department were present as guests.
In the workshop Dr. Khan discussed various topics including camera settings, pictures with contemporary needs, story ideas and research. He also discussed in detail on practical issues like camera settings, story quality, FPS (frames per second), using appropriate frames of video.
Dr. Khan said, 'The story that no one talks about in the society is the actual story. Grass root people can have various unknown stories. In selecting the story, one should select the topic with contemporary needs. Apart from this, the selection of audience through social media, you also have to decide on which medium the audience will see you.'
Also during the workshop, the legal and Shariah perspective of Community Digital Storytelling was discussed by Dr. Shahjahan Mandal and Dr. Mohammad Nashir Uddin.
Later, the event concluded with the speech of the President of the Photographic Society and the distribution of certificates among the participants.
Meanwhile, the Community Digital Storytelling Festival will be held on 10th and 11th February 2024 under the initiative of Department of Journalism, Media and Communication of Daffodil International University.
